Édouard Bovet, a native of Fleurier, travelled to Canton in 1818 and founded the company in London in 1822 to make watches for the Chinese market. That market collapsed around 1855 and the brand changed hands many times until Pascal Raffy bought it in 2001. In 2006 he acquired the group now called Dimier 1738 and a dial workshop, integrating production. Its watches are recognised by their slanted writing-desk case.
