Casio

Machine translation pending human review. Figures and sources match the original.

Casio was born in Tokyo in 1946 as Tadao Kashio's workshop and became known for calculators before reaching the wrist. Its first watch, the 1974 Casiotron, already had an automatic calendar. In 1983 the DW-5000C launched G-Shock, the result of a project begun in 1981 with the aim of surviving a 10-metre drop. Today the house also offers the motorsport-themed Edifice line, the high-tech Oceanus and an inexpensive digital catalogue that keeps selling decades after launch.
