François Czapek, a Czech-born Polish watchmaker who settled in Geneva in 1832, founded Czapek & Cie in 1845 with Juliusz Grużewski and sold watches to Napoleon III. Harry Guhl, Xavier de Roquemaurel and Sébastien Follonier revived the name, registered in 2011. The Quai des Bergues arrived in 2015, funded by a crowdfunding campaign, and in 2020 the Antarctique introduced the first fully in-house calibre. The company has about 200 shareholders.
